Monarch Moon

As Rally Chandler's attacker leaves the courtroom, he vows she will see him again. When he escapes from prison, she cancels her photo shoots for a week and goes to hide deep in the Missouri Ozarks with her best friend, Marney Phillips. On the midnight drive to Monarch Moon from Chicago, she replays the attack in her head, rekindling the feelings of guilt that haunt her.

As soon as she hits town, the handsome Deputy Sheriff Clay Woods takes exception to her wobbling into his lane of traffic as she points-and-shoots scenery from her moving vehicle. He reprimands. She scowls. Rally tries to keep her past a secret, but Deputy Woods has some surprises of his own.

There's an old wives' tale among the hill folk around Monarch Moon. Strange things happen when there's a Monarch butterfly migration during a full moon. She believes it after she stumbles upon an attempted drowning and gets kidnapped in her beloved 1984 Mustang convertible, Blue. There's a shooting, and she and Blue are involved in a car chase.

Combine all of this with the down-home antics of some Monarch Moon locals and you have a delightful, exciting, and heartwarming tale of lives changed, and faith restored.
