Mrs. Avery and Jeffrey is based on a true story involving the author’s mother and a baby squirrel she rescued. Mrs. Avery was at a time in her life when her children were almost grown and out of her nest, so she felt that she wasn’t needed as much anymore—that is until Jeffrey showed up! Jeffrey was a delight in her life until Jeffrey became too much to handle! Jeffrey, at heart, was a wild animal and longed to live like other squirrels do. But can Mrs. Avery let Jeffrey go?
