Nursing in a prison setting is not for the faint of heart!
What's it like working as a nurse in a maximum prison in the Midwest? For over eighteen years, Martha Miller worked as a nurse in a state correctional facility, experiencing trying medical situations with residents, peers, and correctional officers on a daily basis.
Her intriguing stories of day-to-day encounters and challenges will open your eyes to an often-overlooked aspect of prison systems, where hard-working nurses have to be ready for anything, from physical injuries to drug overdoses to psychiatric conditions and much more.
Drawing upon her faith, Martha brings her experience, optimism, and professionalism to working in this tense environment, constantly striving to make a difference and provide top-notch care for all her patients.
"Through her stories, Martha's heart for those living on the fringes of society is evident. What a humbling reminder of the value of each life and of the privilege to serve! May we always strive to keep an attitude of care, compassion, and service at the forefront of nursing practice."
