How to describe My Bodyguard of Lies? I've heard it referred to as Lake Wobegone on crack, as "Fear and Loathing" in Mauch Chunk and as Majestic Mountains through shit-colored glasses. Thomas labeled his work as a "Pyschographic Novel" because it defies categorization. Whatever else it may be, it is psycho and graphic; part recollection and reverie, part melancholy and revulsion and part satire and smart ass. you decide.

Starting out in the hard coal region of Pennsylvania and ending in upstate New York, Richie, the protagonist, is that rare soul who slices through hypocrisy and cuts straight to the Truth, or at least truth with a small "t".
