Nigeria's Rising Hegemony Is Essential to Peace and Stability in West-Africa

he deteriorating security in most West African states as a result of conflicts associated with poverty, hunger, and disease has been a source of concern not only to the leaders within the sub-region but also to the international community. But the United Nation Organization (UNO) and the Organization of African Unity (O.A.U), lack funds to intervene in all conflicts all over the World and Africa inclusive. The new thinking of the developed world, who contribute substantially to the UN activities is to encourage sub-regional organizations particularly in Africa, to take responsibility for sub-regional security while they play a supportive role in the areas of training, logistics and in some cases finance.
