Nineteenth-Century Women Poets is a groundbreaking anthology, representing the achievements of 100 women poets, the writings of many of whom have long remained out of print. It extends the narrow focus applied to the period, to include a number of working class, colonial, and political writers. Selections include long poems (ballads, legends, and metrical romances), as well as the compressed lyrics that were favoured by the end of the century.
