Non-Discrimination and Equality in View of the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies

Equality is without any doubt one of the central principles of human rights law. Non-discrimination and equality feature prominently in most of the UN core human rights treaties. But do the human rights treaty bodies understand these principles by and large in a similar way? Do they recognize the same grounds of discrimination? Have largely similar obligations been derived from the principles of equality and non-discrimination? How is gender-based discrimination treated?
