For those who liked David Nicholls' "One Day" or Josie Silver's "One Day in December". A book about needs, relationships and friendship. Of two people not being in the same place in life, how important communication is for any kind of realionship and how hard that can be when you're young. I loved the small details that described feelings, actions or thoughts; they enhanced the reading experience for me, making the story come to life.

A contemporary "coming of age"-book, in which Rooney elaborates on the love and friendship between Connell and Marianne, two young, Irish students. It is so well written, emotionally honest and ... real, reading it felt like wearing the complex feelings of the characters as a quilt around me. Beautiful, intimate and devastating.
