B.P. Clarke shares moments of nostalgia through twenty-five thought-provoking and at times humorous poems, a potpourri of life in 'Babados'(Barbados), from De Parishes and National Pride to Gone Are The Days and Standpipe Mek Fuh More Than Catching Water.



Each poem brings to life aspects of village culture influenced by the people, language, and everyday life, like playing a game of cricket, catching water at the standpipe, over-packing to travel, and eating all of the pig.

The Sound of the Rain evokes bittersweet childhood memories for one young lady who also recalls that the rain helped to ease her pain, while Caribbean Nostalgia typifies the Caribbean experience, with the pulsating rhythm of steel pans reverberating in the air, tourists walking by and being hassled by a man playing dominoes, together with the selling of food.



All of these make for a delightful potpourri of dialect, politics, and social commentary.
