Notes on the Institution of Punishment and Corrections is an introductory level text focusing on the issues of punishment, incarceration, and rehabilitation in the United States. As the title might suggest, this text is a collection of notes specifically created for both in-person and online lectures that the author currently uses at Indiana University Northwest. These notes are intended ot provide students with a critical perspective on current issues associated with punishment and corrections. Each chapter is linked ot specific learning objectives centered on the idea that students must have a good knowledge of history, theory, and policy before exploring the field of Corrections as advocates, practitioners, or policy makers.
