Safety Harbor Writers & Poets presents the 2019 Edition of Odet, a journal of prose, poetry, and art/photographs written and produced by Florida authors and artists. The theme for this edition is “Point A to Point B,” which refers not only to physical journeys, but internal ones as well.

As in the past, we’re thrilled to award prizes through the annual Romeo Lemay contest, generously funded by Romeo’s son Tim and administered by Safety Harbor Writers & Poets under the leadership of the journal's editor in chief, Laura Kepner. All winning entries are included in this journal and are indicated in the table of contents. Romeo wrote of his experiences growing up near Quebec during the Depression, and we are pleased to present another of his essays, “The Last Train Out,” which fits our annual theme.

For the first time, we have offered a separate prize for poets, named after our friend Roger Howard and funded by his wife. Roger, a previous contributor to Odet, was a local writer who became a poet late in life after he had finished a career as a surgeon. We have included one of his poems, “Black Lined Roads,” for your enjoyment.

This is the final issue of Odet. We hope you enjoy it.
