Of Hawks and Sparrows

The first section of Of Hawks and Sparrows comprises short stories, most of which are born out of the writer's own experience. The characters are everyday familiars, but their reactions to situations take us by surprise. They are a motley crowd-exciting, intimidating, pathetic, and shocking. Stories like "What Remains," "Kinship," "The Mansion," etc., are a few examples. Thrill and shock will make you read on.

The second segment consists of poems that are multidimensional. Headline-making events and cataclysmic incidents are treated deftly by the writer. Poems like "Afghan Soliloquies," "Schooling High in Beslan," and "The Other Side of Darkness" are some of them. The poems cover a wide range of topics like female infanticide, pollution, spiritualism, and of course, romance.

The author is subtly expressive of her sympathy and concern for the suffering millions.
