On Pilgrimage

Vest explores the differences between sightseeing, vacationing, and pilgrimage, inviting us along on pilgrimages he has made to Durham Cathedral and the Island of Iona, to French abbeys and the island of St. Croix, to healing sites such as Holywell and Lourdes, and on a journey to his boyhood home. Vest also helps us plan for pilgrimage -- not only in the most practical sense, with checklists and guides, but as preparing ourselves for a change of place, opening ourselves to new experiences.
