On the Ceiling

A quirky comedy about the painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, from the well-known actor and writer - seen in the West End starring Ron Cook and Ralf Little. The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, 1508: the blockbuster project of the Renaissance world... But this time the Pope has surely backed a loser: Michelangelo never seems to turn up. So who has to cover for him? Like any big project, it's the little guys, the professionals, the men who've been doing this kind of thing all their lives. As for gratitude, they'll be lucky if they even get paid! Nigel Planer's play On the Ceiling was first staged at Birmingham Rep in 2005, transferring to the Garrick Theatre in the West End in August 2005.
