Anne Lemonte's childhood was one long story of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. She overcame her dismal beginnings and became a smart, strong woman, used to living life on her own terms, more importantly, alone with no emotional entanglements. On her first week at her new job with Trinity Security, she runs into Degan Malone, the man she has loved since high school. Degan, like Anne, is ex-military.
