Catherine was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Open Doors and Open Windows: a Journey with God is a story about her own journey to find a personal relationship with God. It tells of her life as a girl, her experiences as a young adult, a broken heart and rescue by Paul, the man from Tennessee.
