Pathway to Promise is the story of an Afowa son born during the era of Nigerian independence.

He was given the remarkable Christian name David, and was fortified by it—a name for a king. David learns from his mother’s wisdom while attending the local missionary schools; he endures the era of Biafra war; and then departs the tranquility of village life to the hustle and bustle of Lagos.

Based on the premise that education holds the key to a better life, David decides to study in the United States. He goes on to establish a family life as a young adult and a professional career of public service. David experiences the upheaval of war as a soldier in the Gulf War's Operation Desert Storm. Its painful impacts were compounded by the death of his mother.

As a public servant, David  has touched the lives of many immigrants and citizens through law enforcement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The wisdom impressed upon this young son of Afowa during his early childhood has blossomed. He is inspired by his culture and traditions, and keenly feels the nostalgia and longing of the new diaspora.
