Trauma leaves wounds we spend a lifetime trying to heal. Without meaning to, we recreate dysfunctional and dangerous situations hoping this time we can come out whole. LaKeisha Carey knows firsthand how useless--and lonely--that process is. She spent years setting herself up to struggle--with her romantic relationships, with her self-worth, and with her relationship with God. But He wouldn't let her give up. She knew she needed a change, and by listening to His voice, she was able to heal.

Pearls is LaKeisha's recounting of her healing process. She holds nothing back in sharing her struggles, their origins, and her journey to wholeness. Inspired by the verse in Matthew, 7:6, where God reminds us of our value, LaKeisha walks through the stages of the process, incorporates guiding scripture, shares hard-won pearls of wisdom, and ends each chapter with a heartfelt prayer for everyone who can't seem to break the cycle of casting their pearls before swine.
