Petals on the Fence

She tossed the newspaper away, rattled by the affairs of the world. 
"I must learn to adopt nonchalance towards the deeds of humanity", she thought to herself as she walked towards the balcony to get some peace.
A cool breeze grazed against her cheeks as she stood sinking in the warm glow of the setting sun. She stood there, calming her mind, in the gentle embrace of nature. 
She smiled softly looking at the flowers that perched gracefully, on the fence entwined with creepers.
"What is it that actually protects us?", she silently pondered.
