A silent solar wind charged towards earth, while a group of unsuspecting passengers was comfortably flying in a Boeing 737 over Hudson Bay. When this force of nature reached the earth's outer layers of protection, most of it was harmlessly reflected off. Unfortunately, the plane happened to be flying through a thin spot in the ozone layer at the same time that the sun's magnetic storm reached the earth, and the EMP from it, fried the plane's electronics. It flew helplessly on unseen, unheard, and in the dark. The plane eventually lost altitude and slammed into the tundra somewhere along the Arctic Circle. A few of the passengers survived. One of them was a fourteen-year-old girl whose mother was running away from a bad

situation. A situation that caused her daughter to crawl into a thick shell and shut out the world.

In this cold, dark, harsh world, with winter coming on, the surviving passengers would not last long. An old man cracks her shell and a wolf

brings her out of it. Together, they trek the wilderness in search of help. When the old man is injured, she and the wolf go on alone. The lives of the surviving passengers now depend upon her.

DL SIGLER is the author of seven novels that are chockfull of adventures. He ran away from the farm in his early years and ended up in Alaska. He married and that was followed by three handsome boys and a beautiful daughter. His adventures in Alaska took him from Dead Horse, which is on the Arctic Ocean, and south to sailing on the waters of Prince William Sound and the northern Pacific Ocean. And then beyond. He now lives in Washington State on an Island in the Sound.
