Photoelectronic Image Devices

This volume contains the proceedings of an international conference which reflected the characteristics, construction and applications of imaging detectors, with particular reference to those designed for operation at very low light levels. On this occasion, a growth area was seen in the design of X-ray imaging systems capable of detecting low fluxes for medical applications. Papers contributed by astronomers emphasized the importance of space-borne detectors for X-ray and optical wavelengths. Other fields discussed included CCDs and other solid state detectors, image intensifiers and new designs.
