Pickles Wasp Hero

Pickles Wasp Hero is a short children’s story set in Africa.  Although this book stands alone, it is the follow up book to Wilfred Flying Ant. After Wilfred’s successful defeat of the humans, the garden is threatened again. Pickles, a newcomer to the garden takes up the mantle and the second battle ensues.   Pickles is ably assisted by Tamsin the python , Gherkin a younger flying ant,  Beetroot the beetle and a variety of other insects and animals who triumph over this  second invasion of humans.   A more ferocious battle than the first, results in the flight of the second wave of humans. Fatalities occur but Beetroot and Tamsin survive to fight another day. The book has a colourful range of illustrations and is beautifully crafted for advanced junior readers or reluctant readers at senior level. The story reflects how the weak overcome almost insurmountable odds of the arrogance of Man and survive the onslaught.
