Mathematical platonism is the view that abstract (i.e. non spatio-temporal) mathematical objects really exist and are the entities that our mathematical theories describe. Mark Balaguer shows that mathematical platonism and anti-platonism are both defensible views by solving the important problems associated with each of these views - for example, platonism's epistemological problem and anti-platonism's indispensability problem. He demonstrates that it is inherently impossible for us to have a valid argument either for or against mathematical platonism.
