Plum Blossom is a romantic supernatural thriller, set in Wynnum/Manly, Queenslnd at the hight of the fishing industry.
In the summer of 1967, Gabe Connor, a young man with a dark past arrives in Wynnum looking for work. While in Fisher's Pub Gabe hear overhears the local anglers discussing the huge haul Daniel Larson, skipper of the Lusty Lady caught that week. 'A bloke as busy as the skipper would need another helping hand,' Gabe mused and figures he is that helping hand.
Gabe introduces himself to Daniel and quickly spins a him a tale about hearing he is looking for more deckhands. Daniel, a naturally cautious man studies the lad. Aware that Gabe is lying Daniel quizzes him at length, satisfied with Gabe’s response Daniel gives him a job with the proviso if he stuffs up he will be gone. Gabe is respected, as brave and hardworking but feared for his unpredictable, violent rages.
Gabe briefly sights pretty teenager, Bonnie Mason. She haunts his thoughts. They meet. The attraction is mutual. They marry and have a son, Gabriel.
Although Bonnie’s love helps Gabe become a quieter man, his dark past contiunes to haunt him.
During a late-night walk, Gabe meets his fate at Wynnum Creek, but his spirit was not ready to leave. Gabe has unfinished business and becomes a spectator in the life he should have lived.
