Poems for the Rest of Us

I try to write for the non-poet, for the educated average person who seldom reads a poem just because it is a poem, or because poetry is supposed to be mind-expanding. To entertain is, I think, the primary reason poetry exists at all. I suggest you not try to lap up a book of poetry in one sitting. Just feed yourself a poem or two once you've done something useful like mow the lawn, cook dinner, or study your favorite software manual. Poetry must be taken sparingly to avoid a certain painful mental bloat not unlike the physical feelings that come from over-consumption of Napoleon rum balls or chocolate iclairs. So, here's to having fun with words.
