Formulating a military strategy is a complex interaction between politicians, strategic commanders and generals. Formulating such a strategy within a multinational organization is even more complex. In this book, Edstrom and Gyllensporre explore a range of case studies, based on UN documents, and individually analyse what they are missing militarily. Despite leading military activities to more than one hundred thousand troops all over the world, the UN not only refuses to recognize the military strategic level but also the need for military strategy. This book highlights the consequences of this, arguing that the UN needs to provide necessary tools to send to conflict areas in order to fulfil its political ambitions. Military strategy is such a tool.
