Portrait of a Dog

When an aspiring writer and first-time dog owner discovers the family pet may have cancer beyond all hope, he takes to writing. Through it we receive testimony to the difficulties dog owners can face in those circumstances. We also learn, perhaps along with the author, how much the dog has come to mean to him and his small family, living on a tiny island in the San Juan archipelago.
