Production and Management of Lithic Materials in the European Linearbandkeramik

These ten papers, in both English and French, are taken from the Acts of the XIVth UISPP Congress held at the University of Liege in 2001. Together the contributors examine the European LBK through lithic remains, confirming that the investigation of the sources, raw materials manufacture and circulation of lithics is a vital line of enquiry into this culture. The papers discuss the control over sources and raw materials, the importance of choice and management, the different strategies of knapping, modes of production, differentiation between settlements, regional and extra-regional exchange, distribution and the socio-economic context of production.
