Progress and Prospects in Evolutionary Biology

The explosion in use of Drosophila in evolutionary studies has resulted in an explosion of knowledge which has not heretofore been gathered into a single volume. The book spans the full range of evolutionary studies: population genetics, ecology, ecological genetics, speciation, phylogenetics, genome evolution, molecular evolution, and development. In covering these topics, highlights of empirical results are emphasized and are put into the context of major issues in evolution. Thus the book is not just for Drosophila workers, but is meant for all interested in evolutionary biology. Special effort has been made to point out holes in our knowledge and areas particularly ripe for new investigation.
