Raddoppiamento Sintattico in Italian

Long recognized in Italian grammar books, the process consists of the gemination of a word-initial consonant in certain environments. The word raddoppiamento means doubling, and it is deemed syntactic or phonosyntactic because the process spans word boundaries.
