In fact, besides a limited handful of human beings to whom fate offered life on a silver platter, the majority of people are from the modest and / or poor families and each is called to forge his own path. Thus, with so many sacrifices, failures and humiliations suffered, but also with perseverance and determination, many have been able to carve out a prominent place in this world which seems to be a closed circle. Those who are in that circle want to keep the boundaries of it locked and reserved only for the class of the rich who are already inside; While those from the outside, even though marginalized by obscure forces covered in the mantle of injustice, continue to cut their way to force their adhesion among the wealthy who make up this circle.
It will thus be understood that every path pursued by an ordinary human being is a railway, a path full of obstacles to forge a life. As such is the Calvary suffered by Akonga, the main character of this novel.
But "Railway" is also a novel of love. It portrays a story of a very ambitious and intelligent young man who is forced to give up his studies because of a challenge he encountered: to carve out, for all the necessary and legitimate means, and a life to conquer Malou, the only true love, The only woman who has conquered his heart, the only human being he really loves.
Malou, however, in spite of this reciprocal love, chooses a material and easy life. Thus linking her destiny to a fortunate man. Akonga, who's clumsily promising. Meanwhile, she apparently considers "his love" as a reserved tire as long as this one was ready to satisfy her material needs.
Disregarding the incongruous and insulting situation in which Malou plunges him; Akonga will rather use his humiliation as a motivation with the unique purpose of to conquer the love that he refuses to consider lost. To get there, Akonga will be confronted on his railway by a multitude of obstacles, and face one test after another. In the end, he miraculously succeeded in his material bet, but only to lose Malou, who, having become accustomed to a life of ease, refuses to have Akonga, though rich and fortunate. He presents himself to Malou as a modest man, camouflaging all appearance of a rich man with hope that Malou will accept him considering all this time of separation, question to ensure his true love. Error!
The irony of the fate will cause Akonga to marry Milo, who, since their first encounter during their studies had fallen in love with him but never declared it. Milo was a close friend to Akonga and Malou, this diversion of facts will become an obstacle between the two friends; the obstacle that will also be a bitter truth that will seal the love between the two long friends (Akonga and Milo) for a secure and better future.
The narrative is full of wisdom and the thought used is deep enough and very rich to make one think.
