Rain in the Winter Garden

"Ghosting" the memoirs of an old soldier ought not to be an arduous commission for a writer, but when a condition of employment means staying at a large hotel, in the 1970's, a man in his early thirties finds to his dismay that most other residents, settled there for the winter, are people of retirement age. A boring prospect lies ahead for the next few months - or does it?
