On October 23, 1983, Corporal James Oliver is tragically killed in a terrorist bombing at the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. Jim's sister Danielle, a 16-year-old social outcast and his closest sibling, is the hardest hit by his tragic death. Constant bullying from her peers, an alcoholic mother, and an abusive ex-boyfriend make it increasingly difficult to cope with her loss.
