This report was written by the Brazilian engineer Amilcar Magalhês in 1914, after he accompanied Colonel Candido Rondon on a mission to explore the River Roosevelt in the Amazon rainforest. The expedition was part of the Brazilian government's efforts to map and integrate remote regions of the country. Magalhês describes the difficulties and dangers encountered in the jungle, as well as the interactions with the indigenous communities they encountered along the way.
