In 1911, Nellie Fielding, an 18-year-old American with ambitions of becoming a concert pianist, travels to Albion Cove on England's majestic southern coast to attend an elite girls' boarding school. There she meets her great-aunt, Rose Wickham, who is to prepare her for the concert stage, as she had done years earlier for Nellie's famous mother, Charlotte Pendleton. Despite Nellie's burning desire to follow in her mother's footsteps, she fears Rose's true intent is to derail her dreams at any cost. Both women find themselves locked in a battle of wills that threatens to alter the course of their lives. Nellie, isolated in a remote village, coerced into roles she did not choose, struggles to find answers. Two young men in Nellie's life get caught up in her quest for fame and her passion to fulfill her dead mother's legacy. A mysterious music box, a secluded cottage, and a prestigious contest raise intriguing questions. What roles will a journalist and wealthy socialite play in Nellie's life? Can the challenges she faces destroy Nellie's musical aspirations? Will closely guarded family secrets be revealed? In the midst of it all, will Charlotte's legacy truly be remembered?
