The conflict in former Yugoslavia made 25.000 to 30.000 people victims of enforced disappearances, of which approximately 10.000 are still missing without trace. The book written in 2010 was meant to point the neuralgic spots in BiH reparations to the families of missing persons, evaluate the overall system as well as give certain recommendations, which could be used in the future practice to improve the fate of the vulnerable group concerned. Hence, the research question was: are the currently available national and international legal instruments designed to seek reparations a sufficient mean to get it in case of the Bosnian disappeared and their families? The book has examined how the reparations so far granted to this group of victims fulfill the conditions of: completeness, comprehensiveness, complexity, coherence, finality and munificence. The construction of the dissertation has enabled a broader insight to current developments in the theory of reparations to victims of disappearances, as well as to the practice of seeking reparations for enforced disappearances in Latin America, but also in Europe in order to use some models and good practices in the case of BIH.
