Are the retiring personnel of private higher education institutions in the Philippines socially, economically and financially ready for retirement as a result of an institutional retirement preparatory assistance from their own institutions? The Life Cycle Theory of Consumption by Franco Modigliani and Richard Brumberg posits that through a build up and a rundown of assets, working people can make provisions for their retirement as well as tailor-fit their consumption patterns in accordance with their age (Deaton, 2005). The income generation and savings allocation case of personnel from the private higher education institutions in the Philippines is an actual representation of what Modigliani's Theory is all about. Obtaining a clear picture of the foreseen actual needs of retiring faculty and personnel from private higher education institutions in Cagayan Valley, Philippines is essential to the assessment of the need for adequate preparatory activities to ensure their readiness for retirement Hence, this study was prepared to initiate a concrete basis for an institutional retirement program for retiring Filipino private higher education personnel in Cagayan Valley, Philippines.
