Revenge

One quiet night in a London flat, Detective John Hunter wakes to find an intruder in his bedroom. With little warning, the intruder pulls a weapon, and Hunter dives off the bed, miraculously dodging a shotgun blast. But the woman sharing his bed, the wife of one of London's most vicious gangsters, is killed instantly. Hunter faces her killer, not surprised in the least that the assailant is his lover's husband.

I knew what I had to do and felt strangely calm. There was no resistance when I bent down and searched through the man's pockets. I found two shotgun cartridges. I felt nothing as I pointed the gun and pulled the trigger. The hateful eyes disappeared into an explosion of blood.

This one act leads Hunter into a cycle of vicious revenge that leaves a trail of destruction across England, Spain, and Germany. In trying to cover up his murderous secret, Hunter must involve himself with a crooked American organization that exposes him to a war not of his own making.
