Pregnant and devastated when her controlling husband kicks her out, May decides to leave her home. Cougars Cove, a peaceful coastal town in western Florida, is the perfect place to start over. A seamstress with a fine arts degree, May quickly finds a job in a vintage clothing shop on Cougars Cove Dock, a waterfront community of artists.

As May adjusts to her new life and begins to pick up the pieces of the old, she realizes she was never really in love with her husband, but infatuated with the idea of him. And in her infatuation, she lost her independence, her sense of self-and she knows it's time to take back control.

But all is not as it seems in Cougars Cove, and when a search of a storeroom uncovers a stolen painting, May finds herself involved in not one but two investigations with the FBI and a handsome undercover FDLE agent. Sparks fly between Nick and May, but Nick has always been one for short-term fun over long-term love. When May is threatened, Nick realizes that she has become more important to him than he could have imagined.
