Rising Seas, Falling Skies

In the near future, a virus, frozen for thousands of years in permafrost, thaws and escapes into the atmosphere. As this virus spreads across North America, Dr. Valerie Abernathy, a CDC scientist, develops a vaccine to combat the growing pandemic, but she must use the labs in the Heartland Republic to produce it.As waves of pandemic and climate refugees flood the Midwest, Valerie's father, Captain Bryan Abernathy, attempts to maintain the peace. His hopes are dashed when a church dedicated to helping refugees is attacked and burned.While attempting to bring these terrorists to justice, Captain Abernathy learns a warrant has been issued for the arrest of his daughter and her girlfriend. In the Heartland Republic, there will be no trial, just execution.
