IntroductionHaemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal death in the world and in our country in particular. The choice of this paper was motivated by the high maternal mortality rate by PPH in Tunisia. The objective was to assess knowledge on PPH and the management of postpartum hemorrhage among 50 midwives in the delivery room.Results20% of the midwives knew the new definition of PPH. Most of the midwives chose multiparity, PPH TOD, multiple pregnancy, uterine overdistension, and scarred uterus as risk factors for PPH. All midwives planned for directed delivery in women at risk for PPH. The lack of a safety globe was the first warning sign of PPH chosen by all midwives. When faced with PPH, all midwives would perform a uterine massage and call the on-call physician. Conclusion Continuous training and updating of the knowledge of midwives and all health personnel is the only way to reduce the mortality rate from PPH.
