Salok Mahallā Nouvān commentary by Sant Harī Singh Randhāwe Wāle.

This book is an English commentary on a prayer known as the
'Salok Mahall Nouvn' which are the stanzs by the ninth
Gur, Sr Gur Tegh Bahdur J. This prayer is read at the
completion of the Akhnd Pth or the closing of prayers from
the Sr Gur Granth Shib J. This prayer is used to invoke a
sentiment of dispassion within both the reader and the listener
to detach from this world and focus upon the name of God. It is
the most read prayer by Sr Gur Tegh Bahdur J and both has
a historical and spiritual significance.

There are numerous commentaries that can be found within
Sikh literature on this text but the one that impacted on me the
most was a lecture by Sant Har Singh (Randhwe Wle). This
commentary took place on the 22nd of April 2012 at Gurdwr
Singh Sabh Malton, Canada. This commentary was
dispassionate and at the same time provided evidence from the
historical texts to show the importance in the passing of the
Gurship from the ninth to the tenth Gur.
