School-University Partnerships in Action

This book synthesises existing school university partnership literature, drawing from it lessons for the principles and practices of successful partnerships between higher education and schools whilst also providing reflexive accounts of the strategies which head teachers and other leaders in schools located in high need urban communities use to improve classroom learning, teaching and student achievement. It contextualises all of this in terms of policy-wide developments internationally, drawing especially on evidence of the contribution of such partnerships in the worlds' most improved systems. It presents specific examples of change and each chapter in part two has been co-constructed by academics from the University of Nottingham and school leaders who have worked closely together in a year-long knowledge transfer and exchange project. It will appeal to leaders of Alliances of schools in England, Executive head teachers across different jurisdictions internationally, leadership training organisations internationally and academics who lead and teach on post- graduate leadership and management programmes.
