In the wake of such recent controversies as teaching Intelligent Design and the ethics of stem cell research, greater understanding between scientists and believers is critical. According to a recent national survey, nearly 25% of all Americans think that scientists are hostile to religion. In fact, however, we know little about how scientists engage with religion and spirituality.
