In this personal account of the Great War in the Holy Lands of the Middle East, the author, Canon Joseph Parfit, a cleric based in Jerusalem. Parfit portrays the conflict as a Christian war against an unholy alliance between an aggressive Germany and Ottoman Turkey which stretched from the Balkans, through Egypt to Palestine, Syria and Mesopotamia (Iraq). In fifty pages, he offers an overview of a conflict that still has echoes in the same region today.
