The residents of Serenity House use all their talents to accomplish their goals. They think positive and plan together, hoping to overcome the unique challenges of their lives as residents. Most have not been admitted by choice but by life's design. They remain confident using personal education and experiences and are not deterred by rules and regulations or physical and mental limitations.
McKennah is always listening to groups or individuals to gain information to put into a journal about the previous or hopeful future lives of the residents. Her love, faith and compassion enrich many whose hearts are tender or wounded.
The Resident Council, once futile and non-productive, is now led forward and not easily defeated. Humor and excitement give the residents purpose and hope to attain improvements for their own needs fulfillment. They no longer are idle when the "Power People" in authority ignore their requests.
Can they really accomplish a resident rebellion when the administrator refuses to answer their legitimate concerns? Yes, and they know all the phone numbers for the state surveyors, ombudsman, and local pastors. Laughing and enjoying themselves, these residents strengthen and bolster each other to overcome periods of defeat through ingenuity and creativity.
On occasion, a resident may be difficult to locate, whether it is a turkey hunting adventure or a resident hiding who does not want to go for a medical visit. Upset families, local sheriff and game warden, state surveyors, administration, and helpful residents all get into the plan to locate missing residents.
