Serpentinites

Serpentinites are curious rocks known for the most part as the source of the major form of asbestos and as ornamental facing stones in architecture. Recent research has shown these rocks can be important markers of the architecture of the ocean crust, providing vital clues to the processes occurring in the Earth's tectonic plates.
