This small book is the first of two volumes on the shabads of Sr Gur Tegh Bahdur J that can be found within the section of Rgs within the Sr Gur Granth Shib J. Many Sikhs read the Saloks of Sri Gur Tegh Bahdur J and focus on this dispassionate work but do not realise that the Gur also authored 58 different shabads within the Sr Gur Granth Shib J.
The purpose of this publication and the following volume is to celebrate the 400-year anniversary of the manifestation of Sr Gur Tegh Bahdur J to the earth. The ninth Gur of the Sikhs played a pivotal role in the story of both martyrdom and the preparation of the Khls order becoming manifest. The one aspect that people tend to forget about is the scriptural writing by the Gur and the influence they have on an individual to obtain a state of dispassion to focus on the reality of the true quest in life.
In this small book, you will find the commentary of the shabads along with any additional stories that are required to understand the narratives being explained. This volume contains the initial twenty-nine shabads that are found authored by the Gur within the Rgs of Gaur, s, Devgandhr, Bihgr, Sorath and Dhansr. The commentary is taken from the 'Gurbn Arth Bhandr commentary compiled by Sant Gin Har Singh (Randhwe wle). This volume comprises of the knowledge found within the diasporas directly linked to preserving the definitions provided by Sr Gur Gobind Singh J to the Sikhs. I pay my salutations to this work as it provides an insight to the knowledge being provided by the Gur to the Sikhs. It is for this reason I wanted to bring this knowledge to an English-speaking audience.
