I found myself in the back of the room dancing to the rhythm of the music. The words screamed into the atmosphere of the party room. “Give me your love; give me your love. Do you want me in the way that I want you?” The music gave me permission to close my eyes and allow it to control my movements without inhibitions. I was alive with pleasure at this point. All the sorrows and cares of my world separated themselves according to the essence of my movement. The music became my partner; I could dance as I please. Forbidden pleasures crept into my space as I raised my hands alluringly above my head. My hips started a smooth rotation as my back arched at just the right angle. Slowly and unwilfully my eyes closed completely. Just then a pair of strong hands gripped my waist, interrupting my unlawful dance and snapping me back into mindfulness. There, Zayd stood in front of me, smiling and mimicking my movement. I stopped and stepped back. He stepped forward.

“Dance with me.” His voice was deep and slow. “Dance with me Invisible; move.” I obeyed his request and we fell into a synchronized tempo. I lowered my eyes away from his. I couldn’t let him see the emotion beginning to stir.

“Look at me woman. I want to see you.” Again, I obeyed his request as I allowed my eyes to meet his. With each beat of the music his body moved closer to mine. I placed my hands on his chest, attempting to keep him from getting any closer. Then, the music changed from an upbeat song to one of slow motion. Zayd moved a hand to the small of my back and squeezed the other tighter around my waist.

“Move with me woman. I want to feel you.”
