Shawnee Traditions

Shawnee Traditions is a companion volume to The Shawnee Spirit by providing the myths, legends, tales, speeches, and other narratives that form the basis for the historical analyses of The Shawnee Spirit. Here are about 100 selections mostly from the lips of the Shawnee heralds themselves as they expressed their dismay at the effects of the European intrusion into their homelands. The collection of texts includes many unpublished material from collectors such as Albert Gatschet, Truman Michelson, Charles Voegelin, and fieldwork manuscripts by the author, Noel Schutz.
